There is a common perception that all inkjet and toner cartridges are created equal. The answer is certainly true when you are comparing original cartridges (ie Brother, Canon or HP manufactured) as they are made to the same standards using the same parts. When buying original inkjet and toner cartridges best price becomes a guiding factor as well as support. The big differences come when you are looking at purchasing a much more cost effective compatible or remanufactured alternative, here one of the most important factors is quality and performance as they are not all created equal. There are a lot of horror stories out there that have given the much more cost effective compatible and remanufactured cartridges a bad reputation and a lot of them are true but there is a portion of the market that does an exceptional job in matching OEM quality and performance and providing top service.
So what should you be looking for when buying quality compatible and remanufactured printer cartridges for your printer?
Warranty – Make sure that the supplier offers a full warranty that not only covers the cartridge but also the printer as well. If they don’t cover the printer then they are not too confident in the quality and performance of their products or their after sales service. They should be able to provide this warranty in writing and have it posted on their web site. An example of a warranty could be warranty >>>
Pre Sales Knowledge – Your printer cartridge provider should be able to advise you of the correct cartridge for your printer and to suggest more cost effective alternatives if they are available. As an example with toner cartridges there is often a low and high yield version of the same cartridge and as a general rule the high yield version is not much more and can provide up to twice the printing capacity for a lot less money. When you purchase a new printer they generally come with a “starter” cartridge which is low yield and this is what purchasers look for when they need a new one and are unaware of a better value option. The same is often true with Inkjets as well.
Finding a sales person that is a specialist in their field will make a big difference in your next purchase.
After Sales Support – What do you do when you get home and the printer has a message or lights are flashing and/or you are unsure what to do. Your manual is usually well lost at this point so it is certainly handy to be able to pick up the phone and call a local support office to walk you through any set up required. With printers getting more and more complicated with features this is certainly an important factor to look out for. A specialist supplier will always be there to ensure that their products are well supported and in a timely fashion.
Service Support – It is ideal if your printer cartridge supplier has the capability to warranty and service printers, particularly if you are a business using laser printers. With printer service knowledge your printer consumables supplier is in a better position to advise you correctly on the most cost effective way forward and they generally don’t charge for this advice over the phone and more often than not can solve most problems with a phone call free of charge.
Range of Products – Not all compatible and remanufactured cartridges are able to be made to original cartridge standards so make sure that your supplier knows the difference and will advise purchasing a well priced original cartridge as a better alternative.
A quality supplier of compatible and remanufactured printer cartridges will provide all of these services and the result of this is a hassle free and very cost effective way to print.
Remember that you get what you pay for so buy quality compatible and remanufactured and original printer cartridges from a company that can fully support your purchases. Cheapest is generally not always the best with technical products.
